Oil Tankers - Ardenne Venture The company leader in oil carrying, definitely is Euronav, Belgium. The vessel that we will present to you now is Ardenne Venture, part of the Euronav fleet with cooperation of Wah Kwong Shipmanagement, company situated in Hong Kong. The vessel was registered in Hong Kong and the IMO number of Ardenne Venture is 9290347. The vessel is VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) and the deadweight that it has is 318,658 metric tons. This large vessel has length of 332.99 meters and width of 60 meters. These great measurements gave to the vessel draft of 22.5 meters. This large vessel is one of the largest ships of the world, part of the family of Super-tankers. The Ardenne Venture was built in year 2004 in the shipyard of Hyundai Heavy Industries, situated in Korea. This ship-yard is one of the best qualited ship-yards for building large vessels. That is why almost all the VLCCs are built in Asia and Eastern coast of the large continent. The ship is designed with double hulls from ecological reasons and this is very important requirement for the IMO for tankers built after 1994.

The cargo pumps allow to the vessel to be discharged from 3 separate points too, and with capacity of 5,000 cubic meters per hour each. The reducing of time for staying at anchor or on pier is very profitable and useful for shipping and for the ship-owner company. From data for the previous years, nearly 20% from the time of operation of tankers is staying at anchor, which is too high percentage for loses of the company. According to IMO requirements, the Master should start the AIS, when the vessel leaves the port, and stop it only in security reasons. So nowadays, the shipping is more directed to gomputers, than to classical navigation.
