The vessel is not among the most beautiful or most modern ships. It is also not in very good condition, but for the purpose of its voyages it is going pretty good. The ships of NaviBulgar are not in the first ages, but more of them are pretty old, more than 30-40 years old, which is a great problem for sailing and cargo transportation in the vicinity. In spite of everything there are no large collisions and disasters with ships of this ship-owner from many years. All the tragedies comes from small Bulgarian companies, which are using old ships for getting some profit from the insurance. That is why sailing in Black Sea got some casuals last years. The vessels of Navigation Maritime Bulgare are old, and this is because of the bad reigning of the company last years, which in fact has a very good name all over the world. And let’s back to the introduction of the bulk carrier Maliovitza II, which is one of good looking and good engineering vessels of the company. The vessel Maliovitza II has 8 cargo hold, which gives space for 29,119.70 cubic meters of trimmed grain cargo. The fuel tanks have capacity for 1622 metric tons of IFO (heavy fuel oil used on older vessels, like Maliovitza II), 309.30 metric tons of MGO (light fuel – gas oil) and 41.50 metric tons for lubricant oil. The sludge capacity of the vessel is 52.48 metric tons and the buldge water collection is 91.10 metric tons. The vessel is using fuel IFO-180 with high emissions of CO2 left in the atmosphere and not so good energy characteristic, but it is typical for older ships, where some innovations of new engines are not included. Motor vessel Maliovitza has a main engine SULZER 6 RND 76 with a full power of 12,000 hp. The diesel engine was built in Poland in the year 1982 and you can see the specific of the engine, and it is typical for such motor not to give the full and most optimized power to the vessel’s propulsion system.
This is one of the old vessels of NaviBulgar, Bulgarian largest and most known ship-owner. The bulk carrier Maliovitza is pretty good and innovated for the years at sea, and was built in some of the best ship-yards of the world – Varna, Bulgaria. I think that some new vessels in the fleet of Navigation Maritime Bulgare will bring back the good name of the company.
