Merchant Vessel - Celestine River

Merchant Vessel - Celestine RiverCelestine River is vessel finished just some months ago from the famous ship-yard of Kawasaki Heavy Industries. The ship is one of the largest LNG Carriers, built ever, and the deadweight that it has is 77,163 metric tons, the length of Celestine River is 289.70 meters, the beam is 49 meters and the draft is 11.49 meters, when the vessel is fully loaded . The gross tonnage of the vessel is 117,895 metric tons and the cargo capacity into the tanks is 145,394 cubic meters of natural gas. The vessel has a too big measurements and this fact needs a strong and very useful engine and propulsion system. The main engine of Celestine River is Kawasaki UA-400 stream turbine. The full power that this main engines gives to the ship is 26,900 kW at 80 rpm. This power is enough for the ship to do all the necessary jobs by keeping the gas in low temperatures, and gives the speed of the ship of about 19.5 knots maximum speed and 17.9 knots cruising speed, which is very good for such kind of vessel. In spite of the high power that this vessel has, the auxiliary diesel generators add nearly 3,600 kW to the whole power of the vessel, which is used mostly for maneuvering, bow thrusters, and electricity on board.

Merchant Vessel - Celestine RiverThe auxiliary diesel generators Celestine River Bowmay also give emergency power for the system of freezing the gas into the tanks.

The ship is operated by K-Line Shipping Limited. The carrier has four MOSS type independent spherical tanks, which are isolated with special Kawasaki panels system, which allows into the tank to be kept a constant temperature, and the increasing to be decreased to low points. The boil off gas rate is maintained at about 0.15% per day by the system. The wheelhouse is equipped with advanced integrated electronic navigational system, which allows remote command over the machine, and panoramic vie of 360 degrees of the ship for easier eye navigation. The cargo system is leaden by the Cargo Room, where is installed Kawasaki Integrated Management Control System (IMCS), which is easier for operating and easier for working. The cargo pumps are innovated with higher rates for discharging, and the vessel can be loaded from 2 points separately. This grows the rates and reduces the time for staying at port or at anchorage. Celestine River is new generation vessel that is designed to be functional for the ship-owners and to very profitable. You may see how this ship looks like and wonder, about engineer techniques for building this LNG Carrier.
