Merchant Vessel - Clipper Sky
Clipper Sky is the newly built LPG carrier built by Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation. The vessel is property of Partrederiet Clipper Sky DA. and will be operated by the large ship-owners of Bergesen D.Y. ASA and Solvang ASA of Norway. This was a great deal for the companies of Bergesen D.Y. ASA and Solvang ASA of Norway, which ordered 4 more LPG carrier, from this series.Clipper Sky has a cargo capacity of 59,200 cubic meters. The deadweight of the new LPG carrier of Bergesen is 44,617 metric tons and the gross tonnage of the vessel is 35,158 metric tons. The length of Clipper Sky is 204.91 meters, the length between perpendiculars is 200,45 meters, the beam is 32.20 meters and the draught is 20.20 meters. The vessel has a draft of 12.10 meters, while fully loaded. Clipper Sky ship has a main engine Kawasaki-MAN B&W, with low-speed and 2-cycle, which can give to the vessel a maximum speed of 14.1 knots, and the cruising one is 13.5 knots.
The main engine is designed from Clipper Sky ruddernew generation of fuel-saving super-long stroke type, which can reduce fuel consumption with 7.8% from the old MAN B&W types. Kawasaki tuned this engine, to reduce fuel consumpion and CO2 emissions. The Kawasaki SEA-ARROW bow and Rudder Bulb System with Fins are installed to increase propulsion efficiency. The new system is installed also into the lubrication system, which also reduces the consumption of lubricant for cylinders. The integrated automation system is managing the engine and cargo section operations. The valves of both sections can be monitored and controlled at the central control room.The vessel Clipper Sky has four cargo tanks of the independent tank type that allows contraction of the tanks due to liquefied cargoes at low temperatures. the tanks are constructed with steel, which is specialdurable to the lowest teperature of minus 50 degrees of Celsius and insulated with urethane foam. This vessel is new and very modern and part of the Bergesen fleet, which is very good for the ship-owner and we can tell only good words for Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation, where this vessel was built.
